Find an old piece of furniture that has had his life in another home, buy it for nothing and gave it a new life in my house gave me an extreme satisfaction. Also because all these work need patience and hard work. That is what I needed. I'm learning and having fun at the same time.
Mi è venuto il pallino delle insegne stile antico e ne ho trovata una da copiare su questo sito. Ho provato a fare questo prendendo un pezzo di legno avanzato in un negozio, l'ho pitturato prima con del blu (pittura acrilica normale, che avevo in casa), lasciato asciugare, poi sopra con del rosso. Ho stampato la scritta su dei semplici fogli bianchi, ho ritagliato le lettere e con la matita ho ripassato i contorni sul legno così da disegnarne la sagoma. Ho colorato a mano le lettere con il bianco. Una volta asciugato tutto ho scartavetrato un po' a caso la scritta in modo da dargli un po' l'aria consumata.
I really began to love those sings that I see all over the web. I find some really good tips and a sign to copy on Funky Junk Interiors. I bought this piece of wood at Home Depot where all the leftovers are, I painted it first with some blu acrylic paint, and then with the red one. Then I simply have chosen a font on my computer, print it in a right font size, cut the letters and used them as a giude to draw on the wood with a pencil. I then painted them with white by hand. I loved it because the hand paint gave them the right "old" effect. Finally I sanded it a little.
Il tavolino l'ho preso su internet (craiglist) a 10 dollari, mentre le sedie a 15 dollari l'una in un negozio dell'usato. Mi sono pentita di averne solo prese due su quattro, ma era la prima volta che facevo una cosa del genere e non mi sono sentita abbastanza "coraggiosa".
Ho scartavetrato tutto e poi ho pitturato con vernice spray. Ci sono delle colature e parecchie imperfezioni ma pazienza. La pittura a spray credo richieda un po' di pratica. Ho svitato la seduta, pulito e disinfettato e poi con della stoffa ho ricoperto e ho usato delleTa graffette per fissarla.
Table found on craiglist for 10$, treated with sandpaper and used spraypaint for the first time. They're not perfect, but I'm learning! I also bought 2 y fabric at Jo Ann and reupholstered the chairs with pins.
Ecco il mio pezzo forte che l'udt mi prende sempre in giro. Avevo ancora un pallet da quando ci siamo trasferiti. Sempre tra i piedi...e allora mi sono messa in testa di scartavetrarlo per bene (ci ho messo una vita, ma ho usato la macchinetta), poi con la vernice spray l'ho colorato tutto di bianco e ho comprato 4 ruote. Le ruote non erano molto economiche, ma davano il tocco di "stile". Ma quanto mi piace il mio nuovo tavolo.....
This is my love. My husband laugh at it all the time, but I love it. I had a wood pallet in the garage since we moved and finally I decided to spray-paint it. I bought some (a little bit expensive, I think almost 10$ each) wheels at Home Depot and that's it!
Quando ci siamo trasferiti qui, l'udt aveva preso una quantità esagerata di tavolini dell'Ikea che piano piano si stanno distruggendo. Se poi una certa bambina ci disegna sopra con penne e pennarelli e voi non siete pronte a pulire, finisce che il simpatico tavolino bianco non ritornerà mai più bianco. Quindi ho voluto provare una cosa. Ho comprato un piccolo vasetto di vernice a gesso (esiste nero, rosa, rosso, azzurro...io ho optato per il classico nero, 5,99$). Ho scartavetrato bene bene la superficie del tavolino e poi ho dato mi sembra 5 passate di vernice. Una volta asciugato bene, con questo tipo di vernice bisogna trattare la superficie. Ovvero prendere un gesso passarlo ben bene ovunque e poi pulire con uno strofinaccio. Pronto. Et voilà il nuovo tavolino dei bambini! Un successone. (avvertenza: avere un tavolino "a lavagna" porta i suoi non pochi problemi di gesso ovunque in casa...).
When we moved here in Vegas my husband bought an incredible amount of these famous Ikea sidetables. They're perfect but after two years some of them are falling apart. Especially if you have a littel girl who loves to paint on it all the time. So I decided to try the chalkboard paint found at Hobby Lobby and after 5 coats of it...this is the results. The kids love it! (I have to admit that after a while it gets a little messy with the chalk all over the room, but anyway that is fun right?).
P.S.: SORRY for my bad english. It gets terrible when I write. And sorry for the bad pictures. Next time I will take them while the kids are sleeping!
P.S.:Scusate per il mio inglese terribile che diventa ancora peggio per iscritto. Credo dovrei anche scusarmi per il mio italiano a questo punto...vabbè insomma. L'importante è capirci no? E anche le foto non sono un granchè ma cercherò di farle quando i bambini dormono e non mi rompono ogni due secondi. Grazie!
